# YWHO is a Learning Health System (LHS)

As a Learning Health System (LHS), YWHO is continuously working to transform the system of care for young people. YWHO can support youth, families, service providers, researchers, and policy-makers by working together to innovate and achieve better outcomes in youth mental health.

## What is a Learning Health System?

An LHS is a health system that collects internal evidence-based and evidence-generating data and experience, and uses that knowledge to improve practice of care. This results in higher quality, safer, more efficient service delivery.

#### YWHO is committed to better outcomes

As a LHS, YWHO is committed to continuous learning and improvement by using data and evidence in decision-making across all levels of the initiative. Youth and families are included in this process, particularly in the planning phases and assessment of outcomes.

This wholistic collection of data, feedback and experience allows YWHO to evolve programming to either improve the system or fill in gaps.

This information also supports the implementation of pilot programs, emerging best practices, or innovative and evidence-based interventions within the YWHO Network.

## LHS in Practice

Some examples of programs and initiatives where YWHO demonstrates itself as a LHS in action at the sites:

- PreVenture
- Substance Use and Addiction Disorder Training
- My Wellness Passport Scale-Up Initiative
- YWHO Virtual

Through partnerships with local service providers, youth and family engagement, YWHO can take the learnings from outcome data and work to adjust service delivery – ultimately providing the right care at the right time and at the right place.
